Munich, November 25, 2010: At the Tonmeistertagung 2010 in Leipzig the leading German codec manufacturer MAYAH Communications launches the FlashCast® Cube - a convincing tool for an efficient, standardized and transparent audio-via-IP.

Detlef Wiese, MAYAH’s co-founder and CEO:
"Based on over ten years of experience MAYAH has designed a multi-dimensional audio-via-ip-model to optimize transmission for broadcasters and studios. That means that all users such as operating engineers, reporters or musician, will benefit from a noticeable improvement in live transmission. The developed technique is based on several standard components, e.g. the especially for broadcasting recommended standard applications EBU Tech 3326 for SIP and RTP. Moreover, when using the latter components in relation to each other, a maximum of positive impact can be achieved. "

MAYAH FlashCast® refers to an algorithmic process that was continually advanced by MAYAH due to broadcasting-related requirements. In the late 90's MAYAH realized FlashCast® for ISDN, whose main features were automatic codec detection and compatibility with proprietary and standard codecs. Today, the development of FlashCast® focuses entirely on modern IP technology.

MAYAH FlashCast® contains all important, now known elements for a successful audio-via-IP transmission. Due to the packet-based data transmission over the Internet certain mechanisms have to apply both at the level of packaging and de-packaging in order to ensure optimal audio quality. FlashCast® technology covers the entire signal path from sender to receiver.

Essential elements of the FlashCast® Cube:

  • Low latency en / decoding
  • Package optimization
  • Error concealment
  • Error protection
  • Adaptation of buffer and bit rate

MAYAH FlashCast®, interoperability as driving force:

FlashCast®, the convincing tool box is based on the EBU Tech 3326 standard. This standard was defined when different codec manufacturers and participants of the broadcasting industry came together in order to set a benchmark for high compatibility in audio-via-IP.

Hence, manufacturers were meeting regularly in working groups in order to carry out together intensive connection tests with their audio codecs. The current results are highly convincing. MAYAH is the most compatible audio codec worldwide, not least because of FlashCast® technology.

Finally, FlashCast® includes all mechanisms for the use of SIP servers and is already compatible with a variety of servers, such as Siemens HiPath 4000 series, Siemens OpenScape UC Server series, Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX, Brekeke SIP Server, 3CX PBX, FreeSWITCH, Kamailio, OpenSIPS, Juniper etc.

MAYAH SendIt 4: The FlashCast® technology will shortly be integrated in MAYAH products. Also
Sendit 4, MAYAH’s new software codec will benefit from this efficient and compatible technology and thus will be the standard software for high-quality communication on the go.
